here are some I like

why so new?
A friend of mine had a Hyundai Accent and she loved it, they are great little cars, she upgraded to a Hyundai Coupe and her son drives the Accent now, they've not had any problems with it mechanically at all.
OOOHHH! I had a little white Accent as my very first car. I simply adored it.
It's small though. (or at least the year model I had was) So, no good if you plan on hauling a bunch of stuff/friends around. But, the gas mileage was awesome.
(but again, that's back when I could fill up for $9-$12.) lol
well oddbreed, second hand cars seem to break down alot, and thats very expensive
They only break down if you pick out a bad second hand car. Best to have someone that knows ALOT about cars accompany you when choosing. I have owned 2 used cars so far. The first was a Chevy Malibu 1998, great car lasted 4 years with me. I only got rid of it because of an electrical problem. My current used car is a 2004 Camry Toyota from my MIL. I've had it almost a year without any problems, then again it was taken good care of.
yeah, mine was a good second hand too, but its starting to show its age now
My hubby and i have 2 toyota 4 runners, and a Toy pick up, all 80's models, theyve never broke down, have about 300, 000 miles on them and parts are cheap, but we do the most of the labor ourselves...oil changes etc..we paid 1000 bucks a piece for them.
Michelle G~i just asked cuz car payments are rough!
Felecity...I have a Toy camery for years, loved it till we got rear ended!
Tis best to get a newish second hand car then to get a brand new one. Speaking in Business terms, when you buy a BRAND NEW car from a car dealership, the moment the tyres touch the road it's considered second hand and the value of it sharply depreciates!! The you'll have just wasted hundreds, or more like thousands of dollars.
Just make sure you properly check out any car you buy whether new or second hand. New cars will soon become second hand, just like any other.
I was going to buy my Granddad's car off of him about 2 or 3 years ago. I wish I did, I really loved handling it, it was like it was perfect for me. It looked something like this:

I would probably consider getting a Ford as my first car. Apparently when you get parts you won't have to pay steeply as you can get generic parts, not branded by Ford, saving you money.
But the Hyundai car does look nice

well, I just noticed the new 2010 beetle
and if I can get one, I will.
I love beetles and old classic cars
I asked my dad and he said the Hyundai Accent is better than the ford Fiesta.
I love little beetles too! I wanted one when I was younger because they are so cute but I now I prefer mini coopers... I dont know why... lol I love the little coopers with the union jack on them! (Even if I'm not British)
Also did you ever see the Nissan Cubes? They are so cute and weird looking! I'm not sure if they're a good car or anything but they seem to be around the same price range as the ones you posted. They arejust very cool looking.
