Should I go back to BALLET??
I did ballet from when i was about 5 to about 11, i quit because I'd just started secondary school and had more homework etc, plus doing the ballet classes got more serious cause we had to move up a grade and do tests and stuff; I started doing it because I enjoyed it not for the glory of passing the ballet exam. But now I'm 15, and thinking how much I like to ballet dance- I often find myself standing in first/third position or practising old steps I used to do! I doubt I could go back to the same school, because the lady who ran it when I was there is probably too old now and retired, and the other dance schools in town Im not sure about because they seem more intense and serious, whereas I just want to continue again for a hobby and fitness.. Plus I have my GCSEs this year so I dont want to have to go for too long each week because of revision, and have commitments on Tuesdays and would prefer to keep Saturdays free.
Anyways, the question is--
Should I start ballet again??
you know if its fun and you love it, why not do a class once a week? or find another class like jazz or modern?
I agree with Michelle rather than going to an actual Ballet school, I'm sure they have like Ballet groups where they are in like little town halls and what not where it is not as serious. If not then try taking up another type of dance class.
See how things go after your GCSE's, are you thinking of going to do you A-Levels afterwards or go to college or work? Depending on what you do and how demanding it is then you may want to take up ballet seriously again. I think going for the exams and stuff would be nothing but beneficial for you, when you have less pressures on you.
If you enjoy dancing (whichever form you choose) so much it can be a healthy release from the pressure of study. A bit of 'me' time.
If you write a full time table out for your week with all your committments on you will find free time slots. You can move things round till you make it fit in, if it's what you really want.
It's also a brilliant way to keep fit, toned and make new friends.
Sheila is right. I used to do trampolining, but the club near me merged with another one and the place where they practced closed and it was too far away from me. I wish I could get back into it because I LOVED it!!!
oooh love to try that
What ballet or trampolining?
If you really like dancing you should go back to it.
I gave up jazz ballet after doing it for nine years, and now I regret it...
Jazz Ballet? is that one thing? Excuse my ignorance but what is that? It sounds really funky actually =D
it was huge in the 80's, its a really funky style
and trampoling
Oh right, sounds good!!
Trampolining was good fun!!
I say go for it, if you want to do ballet then what's stopping you?
I loved trampolining when I was younger. It's so good to feel like you're flying!!!
I think you should try to go back to ballet, anything else will give you that feeling of gratification and well-being...
now you probably think that your exams will keep you busy all the time, but i'm sure you'll be able to manage both things!
I had to stop artistic gymnastic due to back pain and it's been quite sad
i think i might go back, but not to the same school, because the amazing lady who used to teach there has retired now and theres a whole new crowd of younger organisers etc, but i will definitely look into going elsewhere...
i'd LOVE to try trampolining as well
i'm sure i can make time for hobbies...
Go for it, you might find a club ir school that is better than your old one.
if you find a local trampolining club give it a try, its a little scary at first but it was the most exhilarating thing I've ever done. I could do everything short of flips. I got to level 7 i think. Level 8 is where you learn the flips. I'd love to have done that.
