I'm all about making lists and setting goals for myself. And seeing as there is only a small amount of time until we ring in the new year, I though it would be good for us all to fill out a survey that helps us to see what we have achieved in 2008!
I'll go first:
What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Started and finished a Diploma, became a professional Make Up Artist, found happiness within myself and learned to be optimistic, worked on fashion shoots, got my septum pierced
Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions. I like to set myself achievable goals with time frames and then work towards them.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
No but LOTS of them got pregnant!
Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully
What countries did you visit?
None

What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Higher self-esteem, more passion and drive, ability to go with the flow
What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Jan 2nd - the date I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Turned out that I don't want to do that solely with my life but it changed in so many amazing ways
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Receiving a Diploma!
What was your biggest failure?
Not accepting and loving myself, flaws and all + pushing myself too hard/being too hard on myself

I was already in love.
What was the best book you read this year?
I didn't really get a chance to read any books this year as I was so busy, but I re-read Valencia by Michelle Tea which is one of my all-time fave books
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having better self-esteem and less self-doubt
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Veering well away from most styles I've had before and opening up to new possibilities. I'm still fine-tuning it though so 2009 will be the year for that
What kept you sane?
Knowing that I'd be meeting all sorts of new people...and I did!
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Sometimes it's best to not dwell on the negative and just go with the positive. Everything can be turned into a positive.
OH and the excitement of life mostly happens when you challenge yourself and your comfort zones!

Well he wasn't really close to me but someone in my school died on Valentine's Day, and on Dec. 23rd my great grandma died. :

None, sadly. Im 10th grade I'm going to spain though!
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Higher self-esteem, walk the dog more, be more social

I dunno, prolly the first time I went to see the Dark Knight cuz I met my dad's new girlfriend then.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Oh my gosh I don't know. I got a nw boyfriend! But...not much really.

Not accepting myself for who I am, no matter what I look like.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just the usual
What was the best thing you bought?
My mirror. I haven't bought much this year except for music, and that mirror. It's a full-length easel mirror with a black finish on the wood, really nice. But I don't buy much.

Everything!

What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Started to learn Icelandic, attended a mosaic course over 4 weeks, which both add up to a big accomplishment for me, which was getting out on my own and mingling!

I don't make resolutions either, they are too gimmicky and you rarely stick to them.

A close internet friend did

SCRATCH THAT my grand aunt died yesterday(30.12), we weren't close and she was pretty old, so I am alright

None, lots of places within Iceland but none outside

A stable economy, no price hikes

Attending my Icelandic course on my own, without my usual back up

I think I was ok this year after last winters flu shot. Just period migraines

my hama beads, something so small has given me so much pleasure and fun!

On xmas food/alcohol and gifts

Dark Knight, Buffy comics, the surprise of my mother and sis visiting in March!!!

I went kayaking (on a lake...not a river)...which was kind of cool...never did that before...ummm...and rode in a car that did a 180 on ice and almost into a ditch...not sure what else I did in 2008 that I never did before...

I didn't really have a resolution...I just told myself it was going to be a better year...since I believed that 2007 ended so badly...and it was a better year

I think the most exciting thing was six flags...just because I got to leave camp for like 4 days and relax

I would have to say just the fact that when 2008 started, I told myself it was going to be a good year and I wasn't going to let anything change that...and I had a wonderful boyfriend through the year...all but 20 days haha...since we met on the 21st of january

Meh...trying to get more business attire so I actually look like an adult...although I love my t's and jeans.

I kept most of them - some of them aren't yet possible - but yes, I will definately make more!

Getting 2 A's in my AS's I think.

I went deaf in one ear for a week, but other than that my health was okay.

Dunno really. Probably my jewellery inspirations book because it's full of beautiful pictures. Or my soldering iron, after trying to get it for so long! haha.

Train fare to college and food probably.

People say I look like I've lost weight, but I can't see it lol. I'm definitely a lot less chubby than I was about a year and a half ago

Ermm richer I think, but that's only because I just got paid and I got money for Christmas. But I think over the whole year I've been poorer

Fundraising for Honduras.

Getting involved with the wrong people and giving things up too easily.

just because you were friends with them for 11 years, doesnt mean they wont drop you for someone whos slept with four of their friends.

What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Started my own business, Funct' Up Designs (landscape and interior design), Started practicing buddhism, Started meditating and doing colour therapies and reiki.

I don't generally make resolutions.....more with Lola Noir on the whole setting goals and steps to achieve them.

...too many to count...scary

My grandfather Same day as my dads passing, only four years later.

Switzerland, France, Germany and the USA
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
The ability to believe in myself and what I do. Also, better self esteem and less pride.
What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 2nd, That was the day my grandfather passed, and the four year anniversary of my dads passing.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Standing up to my loser friend and roommate.
What was your biggest failure?
Being waaay to focused on school, and not focused enough on myself. Driving myself way to hard.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
A bout of depression, thankfully sans 1 friend and plus 2 other great friends, Im well past that phase already.
What was the best thing you bought?
My Toshiba Qosmio
Where did most of your money go?
Tuition and Rent and Printing for my program....
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Moving in with my two new roomies, they have been my saviours this year!

Sooo much happier!

Thinner...4 sizes in fact

umm....about the same...poor all around...
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Going out with friends, rugby, biking, relaxing, just being alone with myself to reflect.

Doubting myself and my work, worrying about my roommate and her control over me.

I fall in love everytime I get to see him again (stupid ldr)

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not living in my crappy two bedroom apartment with the roommate from hell.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
There was no fashion, I was at the school from 8am to 3am everyday....hoodies and dirty jeans ruled my life.
What kept you sane?
Knowing that I was going back home at the end of the semester and that my family and boyfriend were waiting for me. My new friend Rosa, she was a bright light in a dark time

That sometimes you need to look after yourself and your needs before others. How people see you is their own perception, you cant change their perception. Everyone has their own path to enlightenment, and that all paths are different.
