best sewing machine? :)

i looking for suggestions for the best sewing machine. Am a advanced beginner and i would like a good, surdy machine but nothing to big cause i need it to fit in my tiny flat Happy also something that would suit dressmaking and maybe thicker materials cause am experimenting with coats at the moment Happy at the moment am using my mums machine but she wants it back Happy also no suggestions to expensive please Happy x

You should check amazon, they always have good prices. You can narrow them down by rating and price and read the reviews to see what one would work best for you. That's always what I do when I buy anything. If I could justify buying one, I would buy "SINGER 4411 Heavy Duty Model Sewing Machine" which is around $120, but I can't, lolz. If you find one you like you can also search it in google shopping to see if you find it anywhere cheaper. That's just what I'd do. I got my machine at a garage sale for $40, but it's old though, one of the metal ones in the cabinets with 4 stitch settings. It's all I need, though, and it works perfectly so it's fine.

Any midrange machine by Singer... They'll cost between $150 and $400 for a nice one, but they're well worth it.

I just got my newest sewing machine.Its a kenmore like my old one from sears.my old one is still running after 14 year's, but I wanted some updated features.I love it.I also have a brother embroidery sewing machine.I like it to..but its not all metal inside like Kenmore.

I love my sewing machine. It's one of the OLD Berninas. I don't know if you can still get new ones but you should be able to get good second hand ones at sewing shops.
