need to buy a camera

i need to buy a camera .
i hav no idea about various brands or specifications or wht is SLR or DSLR camera . please help me.
i need it fr design school . m doing bachelors in accessory design.. my specialization will be jewellery design.

You should only need a digital camera, but ask a professor if he/she could recommend anything.
My favorite brand of digital cameras is FujiFilm. They last for a very long time and have interfaces that are easy to figure out and change.

Read reviews of products while looking, but also know that they won't be able to tell you every good and bad thing about the camera... I just paid $500 for a camera and a month later it broke. I looked it up and it was something that happens to that camera fairly often. Luckily it had a 90 day warranty instead of a 30 day so it's been repaired, but now I need to spend extra money on getting an extended warranty in case it happens again. (It's a Sony Cybershot btw, it's amazing but it just has that one flaw.)
