I knit and I've been trying to teach myself to crochet for quite some time, it's rather tricky. Do you have any advice?

I've tried loads of books, I've got the Happy Hooker and about 3 others. I think I need someone to show me visually or sit down with me until I can do it. Does anyone know of any good video tutorials on the internet?

I started knitting again last Jan(after over 11years absence!) I love it, haven't crocheted yet, need to get better at the knitting first.

I found this site for some tutorial videos for crochet Happy

I've done a little bit of sewing when we did it in primary school a couple years back but I've forgotten now. We made scarfs and mine had a lot of holes in it and seemed to keep on getting wider and mum got mad because i just kept going refusing to fix the mistakes- not so good memories! In the school holidays I might relearn how to knit and start to learn how to crochet. One question for everyone though- what's the difference beteween the two?

I begged my mum to teach me to knit a while ago, but I'm really impatient and bad at maths, so all I've done so far is knit scarves!

I'm looking for a nice fingerless glove pattern though, as I have this lovelysoft wool

Knittin'Kitten I knit these fingerless gloves a while ago and they turned out okay, no knitting in the round so pretty easy Happy The only thing I did different was made them a little longer in the main part.

Shivi, I'm sure there are other things, but with knitting you have two sticks, crocheting you have one stick with a curve at the end..but I could even be wrong about that as it's years since I saw someone crochet!

Bind Off, basically how you knit off the last stitches, otherwise known as casting off.

No probs Happy

I do hope to learn crochet at some stage, my mother used to crochet little baby hats and things when I was younger, but she hasn't done anything like that in over 15years I think! I may have to get her knitting when she visits me this xmas! haha

I knit, and know how to crochet but find it really difficult.
Also, I tend to be really enthusiastic about my knitting for a few days, then get bored of it and not go back to it for about a year >.<
