Clip on earrings instead of pierced earring types. What do you think of them?
I have the problem that my ears always get badly infected when I get them pierced. My mother used to have to wear real gold and that was all she could wear but they always turned silver... not sure why... I just get bad infections and they hurt.
not really anyone wears clip on earrings but I am so tired of not being able to wear any at all because I'm afraid of getting them infected.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks a bunch! (first time posting on the board.)
My little sister also has allergic reactions to cheap earrings. Sterling silver though usually works ok for her ears. However I wouldn't go down the clip-ons route- those pinch and fall off easily. I guess it's up to you in the end- but don't feel ashamed if you don't wear earrings. I went for years without wearing earrings at all and only do now because my boyfriend invested in some really nice ones for me.
I used to have the same problem. I had to wear plastic backs because there was only one set of metals ones that I had that didn't give me a little rash on my lobes. And they would get infected sometimes. But I started stretching my ears about three years ago and I never have a problem with them anymore. I'm not sure why, but I'm glad I did. I don't know if that would work for someone else or if you would even want to stretch your ears.
Sterling silver doesn't seem to work, I think i might only be able to do the gold like my mother. I am not fond of the clip on earrings idea... but maybe i might see what else is out there for my ears. It was just a thought. Thanks for your feed back!
in mine I can only wear acryllic or titanium (random I know!) for extensive wear or my ears go all puffy and ooze :s I think it's ust a case of finding the right material for you.
Also, if your ears aren't healed properly before you take out your initial pair, they will get infected, and if you don't clean them
I personally can't stand clip ons, they're too awkward and they always fall off
have you tried things like glass?
some people are sensitive to all types of metal, even gold
do you also do proper after care? no swimming or anything?
I hate clip ons tbh
they just look awkward, REALLY HURT and they can't be studs
magnetic ones are worse (in terms of pain)
Hmm, yeah i dont want to deal with the pain of clip on earrings... I think i might just be stuck without earrings at all. Sad that I have all these pairs of earrings i will never wear but maybe I can turn some into something new at the very least.
I will see what other kinds of earrings are out there, maybe try again. Yes I cleaned them, i never swam when i had earrings in, also never got past the amount of time that it takes before you can switch them to something else either.
As an alternative to clip ons, I found some which use a screw-thread (like a mini g-clamp) in my local accessories shop.
I only wear earrings when out clubbing or as part of cosplay/costuming, so fo me these are a better alternative to piercings. They are less pinchy than actual clips, and you can always adjust how loose/tight they are if they fall off, or feel painful.
interesting idea Pandora, never heard of these before so I wouldn't really know if I could find them around here where I live.. wil have to check out the stores in my area first.
Hi! I'm new and i have a small ebay store selling clip on earrings. They are very comfortable and i wear them myself as i don't want to pierce my ears. They don't pinch and you can adjust them so that they are just nice.
Please take a look if any of you are interested! Thanks!

Have you considered wearing ear cuffs?
I have piercings, but I make my own ear cuffs and I've had a couple of girls buy ear cuffs from me because they don't have or don't want to get their ears pierced but want some sort of ear accessory
It's just a thought
Good luck!
try screw on or magnetic earrings.screw on earrings don't hurt and won't fall off because the can be adjusted to fit your ears via a screw thingie on the back.since they are an old design, you can probably only get them at antique shops or online.if you want to make your own earrings or convert regular earrings you can buy screw on earring backs on amazon or ebay.you can get magnetic earrings, which you almost can't feel at all,at claires, but they are pricy and only come in studs.if you wan't to make your own,you can add stuff to 1/8 inch rare earth magnets.
I have seen some beautiful ear cuffs that mimic earrings - there are even a few on this site! Good luck!
Hi! I don’t get my ears pierced and wear clip on earrings. Yes, there are lot of trouble to wear clip on earrings such as they might fall off and pinching. And since you used to wear pierced earrings, you don’t like really obvious clip on earrings such that metal connections between back and front can be seen. But don’t worry. There are clip on earrings which solve all the problems. They are invisible clip on earrings made from resin: 1) they fit your earlobes perfectly and stays on whole day. 2) They are soft and you can wear them straight 12 hours. 3) The earring findings are clear, so it is hard to recognize that they are clip on earrings.
I create clip on earrings by using these earring findings. If you want to know more details, please drop by my site, miyabigrace.com. ➡ http://miyabigrace.com/2015/09/05/perfect-solutions-for-clip-on-earrings-the-most-up-to-date-and-comfortable-non-pierced-earrings/

I have recently used magnetic earrings but these are only small, like jewelled studs, and get painful if worn more than a few hours. As I don't have pierced ears and don't like pierceings I think I will have to live with these and clip on types.
Thank you for the tip about the invisible type I'll look them up
