Organization Tips?

Hey all, I need to ask for some organization tips!
My fiance and I have been living together for 4 years. He and I are both nearing completion of our college degrees, so we don't have a lot of time for cleaning and organizing our apartment.

Any fast tips that might be useful? My sewing room has been in disarray for many months, and there's always more laundry to fold than I can handle in the bedroom.

We can only maybe dedicate a couple hours a week together sorting things out, so I'm looking for some advice that would help us organize things in short order. I have more time on my own than he does to dedicate to cleaning and organizing, but I usually need to spend that time just catching up on dishes. >.<

I really appreciate any advice you can give! I've kind of run out of ideas.

I know the feeling, just moved and I spent a lot of time organizing through my craft stuff.

If you're like me and you use jar pasta sauce, I recommend keeping the jars washing them out and using them to store your smaller craft supplies. Head to the dollar tree and pick up some $1 bins and use them to store larger things. Go to walmart and pick up some large storage tubs and go through your closet and put away your summer clothes in those (I like the ones that are thin enough to slide under the bed so they are out of the way).

If it helps, I find taking 30 minutes every day to pick up all the laundry, wash the dishes and clean sweep through the house to put away any misc items to be helpful in keeping the place looking neat even if it isn't exactly clean.

Thanks! Happy Joe and I spent about a half an hour in my craft room clearing some space for him. Your 30 minute tip was a great suggestion! We got a lot more done together in 30 minutes than I could do alone in 90.

I'll have to ask him about getting some storage bins to fit under the bed. Last time I looked for some, they were $17, so hopefully they've come down a bit since. We need to rearrange some furniture to make better use of the space so hopefully we can do that next! Happy

We make a list of things that have to be done, that we want done, and would like done, then as we run through and do the have-tos, sometimes we can knock out a want or like. Trash was my duty last week, so while I was taking trash I was able to drop off the recycling that had piled up too.

As far as under bed bins go, just cut some boxes down until they are shallow enough to go under, reinforce with duct tape, use patterned duct tape if you want then to be decor items. I'd you want a lid, then just find a slightly larger box and cut it into shallow tray/ lid shape. Depending on how you do it you can get 2 organizers and lids from two boxes. And most retail places will let you know when they get truck if you ask for boxes.

I'm currently having a massive declutter and organize of my sewing room too. The best thing I've done so far is get a pegboard for the wall, that way I can hang all the tools and supplies I use the most, making them easier to find and easy to put back when I'm finished. Origami

Loving the peg board Cat! I'm afraid when it comes to organising we seem to live in Ikea... Although I have added a pin board for to dos next to where I sit in the evening... Means I can't ignore my job list!
