Need Ideas: Suede Longcoat

I bought an amazing black microsuede (I think?) longcoat at Goodwill for around $4. I could not pass it up! I think it's circia 1980's, judging from the size of the shoulderpads!

I'm looking for ideas on what to do with it. Right now it's just collecting dust in my closet, because I can't decide how to doctor it to fit my own personal aesthetic. I've considered paint, bleach, spikes, studs, but not sure where to begin.

So fellow crafty types: If you had a super cool black longcoat, what would you do to it? Be imaginative!

I knew a guy in highschool who glued black bits of felt with silver marbles into the sleeves of a jacket to make it look like he was getting shot. I have another friend who has a really cool jacket with patches and pins. I like the idea of studs, but not the spiky ones because it could be uncomfortable. I think for xmas, I'm just going to ask for some cash so I can go thrift shopping...
