yarn/wool/fabric chain

So i want to make a chain out of material rather then buy a metal one. reasons for this:
1. it's lighter
2. it's warmer
3. its cheaper
4. its for a costume

Does anyone have any idea how to make it? i dont want to use fimo/cupley/clay because that is expensive, heavy and could break. it has to last a day and be durable.

Take strips of fabric, fold in half lengthways; stitch around, leaving 1 short side open then turn out. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat....

Take one, make into a ring shape and stitch ends together.
Link the next strip and stitch ends together. Repeat. Repeat.....

Think paper chains. Happy

You could try metallic material, thus avoiding the extra work of spraying them

That's a good point, it may depend on the cost, I can buy a can of spray paint for less then 1m of fabric.

If you use ordinary spray paint on fabric it'll crack.
Which COULD look good in an old & battered kinda way Happy
