Inspirational Quote of the Day
I've decided to inject some culture onto the board, in the form of brilliant things that brilliant people have said. I'm always most inspired when I read words of great minds.
Today's quote comes from Noam Chomsky:
"Optimism is a strategy for making a better future... If you assume there's no hope, you guarantee there's no hope. If you assume that there is an instinct for freedom, there are oppurtunities to change things, there's a chance you may contribute to making a better world. The choice is yours."
I chose this because I needed to feel better about being optimistic because I've found myself increasingly unable to cope with doom and gloom and feel a bit stupid for this. Not anymore, Noam Chomsky!
Maybe this words can help me to feel better about my problems...
Sometimes is really hard 4 me to be optimistic.
Everything will be ok in the end - If it's not ok then it's not the end
I am in a group of 4 girls and this is pretty much our motto!
Thankyou Butterfly Night! It's a goody.
"Be intolerant of ignorance, but understanding of illiteracy."
I read this in 'I know why the caged bird sings' by Maya Angelou.
Roald Dahl's motto today:
"My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night
but ah, my foes and friends
It gives a lovely light."
well, as it says on my page, I have and always will live by "Be who youa re and say what you feel, because those who mind, don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind."
I also like Emerson's "When its darkest, man see's the stars", and I love that. Whenever I'm feeling down about something, or something terrible's happened, I think of this quote and it makes me appreciate all the wonderfull things in my life. If you never experience pain, how can you truely appreciate happiness?
"Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary." - Sir Cecil Beaton
It's been a while...
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Eleanor Roosevelt
"It's not until we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything!"--Chuck Palahniuk (From the book "Fight Club")
I'm not doing a good job of doing this every day...
"Sometimes when you try to do good things, you don't see any results. That doesn't mean you should stop doing them."
I have you and even if we never meet or ever see each other, we have left our thumbprints in the thick, moist clay of each other's lives.
