i have no idea what to do with my old boots

i have an ooooooooooooold pair of doc martins that i didnt know how to take care of so they peeled on the outside. any ideas on how to revamp them? they are just the regular black knee high style boot.
i wish i had a picture to show but i've abandoned them at my mom's house, 6 hours away. help me salvage my once favorite shoes!

I really can't picture exactly what you mean by "peeled", but do you have any Doc Marten's Wonder Balsam?

That's what I use to take care of mine, and it works wonders- it conditions the leather and cleans it at the same time. Two thumbs up. If yours are real leather, it might not be too late for them- it may take a few times through, but they might come back to life.

Apprently they're meant to look broken into, although you need them to stay together really haha. Any sort of leather polish if they're leather but you could probably spray paint them or use acrylic, which means you could revamp them big time.

they are real leather. the outer layer has peeled off. i havent pulled them out of the closet in a long time though but i remember it being mainly around the ankles where they bend the most and a little at the toe. will paint eventually damage the leather?

in my head I see them with the fabric lining showing a bit, paint would probably strengthen it though, make them waterproof, it would probably protect the leather too but I don't know it was just an idea to hide the peeling...have a look on instructables.com I bet they have something for this sort of thing

AWWWWWWWWWWWW! NOT THE DOCS! ANY SHOES BUT THE DOCS! :' Thats so sad. I'll have to see a picture before I can come up with ideas, because I've got a few, but I don't know if they would work because I'm not sure what you mean. :

I sure hope you can revamp them because NO DOCS should be left to collect dust. :

This happened to my cherry docs years ago, they were all I wore so they gradually fell apart until huge holes came at the ankle and the toe. I bought 2 new pairs since and they are fine. Love my docs, but I think it adds charm to them when they are worn and tattered Happy My shiny purple ones are all worn now and look much better!
