A quick fix for my dress?!

Ok, so I have this dress that I'm supposed to wear in a couple of weeks, it's brand new, my size, and at a fantastic discount due to "small fabrication errors", I looked at it in the store, couldn't see what was wrong then so I just grabbed it.

When I took it out today (and put it on, which I failed to do at the store) I noticed it...

...a pulled thread (of whatever it's called) smack down the front bottom of my dress. Considering the time is short (and so is money), I'd really like to rescue it somehow...and no, trying to crochet it back doesn't work, I tried Happy

I thought about finding some ribbon and attaching it over the "hole"...but that's about it, any ideas?
Thank you!

How about now?!

You could always raise the hem on it. It'll shorten the dress, but you can definitely hide or even get rid of the ripped section.

That was the first thing I had in mind, but that would make it too short (above my knees short) and on my chubby self it just doesn't look right Happy

first, to keep it from ripping further, i'd put a spot of fray-check at the top of the rip, or a very small dab of tacky glue. then maybe you could find a matching ribbon and cinch up one side so it's assymetrical and make a bow from the ribbon and sew it on. the rip should get hidden in the folds of fabric once it's cinched up, and even if you can see some of it, it shouldn't be all that noticeable- just don't tell anyone ;)

I'm chubby and I love dresses that are just above the knee. They make your calves look nice! Just be confident or wear cute tights Happy

I'd cut it shorter and then add a band in either the blue or a tan- probably the blue though.

How about you cut out a triangle shaped piece of your dress, from the top of the rip to the bottom of the dress, then sew a triangle piece of blue lace in the gap? I think it would look lovely Happy

You could cut it short, so that it's just above where the rip is, and then add another piece of fabric on the bottom, which matches your pattern of the original, to make up for the lost length? I'd love to see what you do with it in the end though ^^

Clear nail polish works to stop it from ripping more. You could attach a band of lace or some pretty fabric over the bottom if you don't want to hem it. If you do hem it, you could attach something on the bottom to make it longer, like this: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/a-skirt-which-can-turn-the-top-a-dress-or-make-a-short-dress-longer

I'd get some fabric paint / markers and color over it...

I would make the dress shorter. I think an above the knee dress will make you look longer and your legs look slimmer.
