how to make hair look longer?

Um, hair doesn't really age, unless you are talking about gray hair. I mean you could always give it a good trim if you have split ends. Deep condition it if it's dry and frizzy, or go the no shampoo route if you think that would help. But unless you have a specific problem it's hard to tell you what to do.

scratch that, I kept reading "younger' if you want your hair to look longer- well there isn't really any trick to making it look longer, you can get extensions but that's about it.

I think straight hair always looks longer than if it were wavy. A bit of an optical illusion. If it is thinner it may also look longer than thicker hair (ie if hair is thick it looks wider so implying bulky rather than thinner which would not have the width to be so so would effectively look longer even if it is not).

A lot depends on the shape of your face (there are differences - try searching on Google)
