DIY Studded Sweater
Recreate the look with Katie's DIY Studded Sweater tutorial:
How would you describe your style?
I always struggle when asked this question! My style can wildly vary daily and always depends on my mood and the weather. I like mixing feminine and masculine pieces, like floaty skater dresses with a leather jacket or a pretty blouse teamed with a studded sweater. I guess my style’s kind of casual girl-next-door meets high street trends and statement pieces.
What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?
At the moment, it’s my khaki and leather army style jacket. I’m in love with the whole mixing of textures and it just goes with anything! It gives a slightly masculine edge to outfits and it was an absolute bargain. (I do love a good bargain).
Who are your style icons?
I use a lot of street style as fashion inspiration most of the time- just ordinary people that catch my eye. However my style icons would have to be Kate Middleton (always effortlessly chic), Fearne Cotton (she can pull anything off), Emma Stone, Blake Lively, Emma Watson, Shenae Grimes and Millie Mackintosh, to name a few!
Do you have any favourite designers?
Alexander McQueen, Isabel Marant, Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood, Giles, Alexander Wang and Marc by Marc Jacobs would be my top picks.
Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes clothes?
I’m such a high street girl at heart. For me, Missguided have become a top place for the latest affordable fashion. In addition to that – Topshop, Next, New Look, Primark, ASOS and Miss Selfridge. Matalan have some good bargain pieces and I love one-off boutiques for something a bit different.
Do you make or customise your outfits?
Not whole outfits but I do DIY and customise items such as a studded sweater and an ombre denim shirt. I like being able to make pieces for cheaper than stores sell them, or create something that’s going to be unique or maybe more personal. It’s also an excuse to experiment and be a bit creative!
Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?
Go for what feels right! If you like to style something a certain way, do it...your fashion represents you and your personality so don’t hold back or follow the crowd. Experiment with fashion, mix it up, and have fun with it.
This would make a gorgeous Christmas decoration for your home.
