DIY The Room

Recreate the bedroom of Jess from New Girl in #DIYTheRoom with Christina Williams.

I love Jess! She's eclectic, sweet, cheerful and awkward. These personality traits are shown so well in her decorating style. She's filled her room with things she loves--secondhand furnishings and handmade/crafted bits and baubles. Her room is inviting and cozy, because she's used a variety of texture and she's not afraid of color. You can tell by looking at Jess's room that she's always ready for a craft night.

Biblionic recreates the style of Elizabeth Bennet's sitting parlor from Pride & Prejudice for #DIYTheRoom

“I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve.” --Elizabeth Bennet What I love about this room is imagining the quiet moments sitting against the bolster pillows reading a book and waiting for guests to arrive. Then tea and scones would be served while the ladies share news and, or course, the latest gossip.

Gunhild creates her dream Nordic inspired room for #DIYTheRoom

It is a rough nordic style look i have made. It is how alot of the nordic homes look like which is a minimalistic style with very clean decor and furnitures. I love the style because it is easy to style for your own personality.

Jolene creates her dream guest room for today's #DIYTheRoom

It's my dream guest room, with a mix of modern and vintage elements. A simple colour palette of grey and white, with pops of copper, teal and wood tones keeps the room calm and inviting. What I love about this room is the simplicity and the inviting decor.

Rachel from Handcrafted Vintage creates the perfect bohemian inspired bedroom for #DIYTheRoom

Fariha from Pennies for a Fortune recreates the home of Gwyneth Paltrow for #DIYTheRoom

Gwyneth Paltrow's style has always been effortless, elegant, and easy and I wanted to put together a room that I think best represents her. I went with a neutral palette with some color thrown in to create a visual break. Add in some interesting textures and a mix of styles, and we've got ourselves a simple yet elegant room which is easy to redo just by switching out accessories with pops of color!

Ashlee from My So Called Crafty Life recreates the home of Miss Marple for today's #DIYTheRoom

One of my absolute favorite fictional characters is Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, the spinster detective. I chose this collection of projects based on what I imagine her home to look like. She was from that generation where they were very fluent in needlecrafts. I imagine beautiful floral fabrics and knits around her little cottage like plush knitted rugs and blankets, lace lampshades, beautiful tea cups and china, and beautiful patchwork floral pillows. I think this ensemble of crafts would fit her perfectly!

Susan recreates Scheherazade's room in 1001 Arabian Nights for #DIYTheRoom

The promise of lighter evenings and warmer weather makes me think of sitting in the garden surrounded by bright colours and lovely scents. Sitting up all night talking, like in 1001 Nights

Sahana from Vikalpah creates her dream living room for this week's #DIYTheRoom

Black and White may seem monochromatic but to me it denotes simplicity and so I always like to style around those two colors.

Daniela from Green Bird recreates The Burrow from Harry Potter for today's #DIYTheRoom

What I really love about The Burrow from Harry Potter is the cozy atmosphere. Mis-matched second hand furniture and accessoires, all in a rustic and heavy look give the place a warm feeling. I also like the patchwork textiles all over the place or the beautiful lampshade and the wooden table. So I tried to recreate a matching style out of 10 beautiful DIY-Projects.
