Sure! What I mean by "excess hang" can actually be viewed in the pictures. In the picture previous to where I said to cut off the excess you'll see that your t-shirt will hang out past your shoulders. In the next photo where it tells you to remove the excess you'll see that that part has been trimmed down and formed into a racer back style. I did this all on my dress form but another way to do it would be to place a tank top on top of your t-shirt and trace and cut around it. I hope that helps - if not let me know and I'll try to explain it again
