Featured Member Interview
How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
I was looking to upcycle some old men's clothes my uncle donated to me, and I came across tutorials for making vests of out t-shirts and the rest was history!
What projects are you currently working on?
My wedding! I'm the sole planner of it, and I think it's my biggest project of all time!

What does your craft space look like?
I have one little desk in our dining room of our little one bedroom rental. It's chalk full of washi tape, embroidery thread, and watercolor paints.5 different variations of watercolors. I have an obsession.
My desk is taken over by wedding planning at the moment, but on a normal day, you can find wax seal sticks, and hot glue, with glitter and faux flower petals littering the area.
I used to house my sewing machine on my desk, but it deserves a larger desk.
Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?
Embroidery thread! From tassel earrings to actual embroidery, it's such a useful and rewarding craft supply.
I also own a lot of watercolor paint!
What do you craft along to?
I have to have something I know in the background, otherwise I'll focus on the media not the task at hand, so I'm always listening to music and always either HGTV or Food Network.
Katie's Most Popular Projects
Favorite Craft
It's a tie--I love fashion upcycling and jewelry making. I love turning fashion items that were created for a specific purpose and turning them into something new and giving them a new life! Like, turning a dress into a skirt, or turning a t-shirt into a blouse.
I also love making earrings that fit my style, and aren't made unethically.
Katie's Top Crafts
If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?
Woodworking, because I would love to make my own furniture pieces and make heirloom furniture! I'm also interested in pottery because it looks so satisfying and fun.
Who are your crafting heroes?
Mr. Kate is the absolute QUEEN of DIY. She started from such humble beginnings and now designs spaces for multi-million subscriber YouTubers.
ThreadBanger's Corrine is also a crafting hero of mine, she is so resourceful and I love that she attempts crafts from beginning to end from scratch.
