I am a Registered Nurse. I worked in Labor/ Delivery/ Postpartum/ Nursery for 25 years in various positions including: staff nurse, educator and Nurse Manager.My last job was at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. My career came to a halt, January 2007, because of nerve damage from a back surgery that I had in 2005. The doctors call it Failed Back Surgery Syndrome. ! All I know is I wish I didn't have this constant severe pain* sigh*. I am presently in a pain management program and considered Disabled. That helps with the pain some, but I still can only walk with a cane for short distances, and I cannot sit for a long time.
I miss working in Labor and Delivery terribly. I miss the patients so much and I also miss my co-workers. You just never know what is going to happen in your life so enjoy everyday to the fullest. I wish I could have those days back. There are so many things I would do differently!!!
