How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
I found this amazing site through the Superstar feature, and I have really loved being a part of the site and learning from other amazing crafters and cooks :)
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a Mariner's Compass quilt. It's a very tricky pattern because so many points have to meet, perfectly. The pattern represents maritime history and the rich shipping and seaside heritage of New England. But I'm loving it! Anyone want to come help me finish? haha.

What does your craft space look like?
Honestly? Hehe. My "craft space" is usually in my own lap. Space is tight at my house, so I have to be creative and keep my space mobile so that I can pack it all away, when I'm done. I have a little board (a refugee from some thrift store, I believe) that perfectly suits me as a lap desk, and I take that out when I'm sewing or crafting. And it's easy to stick my little "desk" behind a bookshelf for storage when I'm done! Win, win! :)
Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?
I think I probably use my rotary cutter/mat and my sewing scissors the most. And woe to the man who accidentally uses my sewing scissors for cutting paper! (*Eerie theater organ music swells in the background . . .*)
What do you craft along to?
I usually like to listen to Christmas music while I craft, cook, or take photos. Sometimes I switch it up and listen to opera (I know. I'm nerdy.). It's all about getting to your happy place, and then you can make the best creations! I actually see a difference in my work when I switch to music I don't like-- the quality is never as good. Maybe plants aren't the only things that grow better with good music! :)
Emilie's Most Popular Projects
Favorite Craft
I enjoy so many types of crafts-- paper crafts, sewing, photography, wood burning . . . I am always willing to learn something new and try a new way of art creation. I would say my favorite "crafty" pursuit is sewing-- I love to both quilt and crochet.
Emilie's Top Crafts
If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn how to woodwork. My brother is a master woodworker, and hopefully one of these days life will slow down enough for him to teach me some of his "mad skillz." ;)
Who are your crafting heroes?
When I lived in Pennsylvania, I used to see the most incredible Amish-made quilts. Those women are amazing craftswomen, and I'd say they are my crafting heroes. If you're fortunate enough to have one of their pieces, treasure it! :D
