When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
After many years of battling healthy issues I finally found a profound link to my food. It was that moment I had to take myself into the kitchen and begin not only cooking but cooking gluten-free. It seemed like the most daunting task in the world, who knew I'd find a profound love for spending time in the kitchen and cooking with all-natural, gluten-free ingredients. I do remember my first recipe I wrote for VeggieBalance though, which was a baked potato. I have a very strong love for baked potatoes, I eat them at least once a day every day.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
My kitchen is a very basic, standard kitchen. Like most kitchens you need to do your best to optimize the space and counter space the best way you can. I'll be honest though, I am a complete and total hurricane in the kitchen when I am cooking. It does not stay clean very long because the Lindsay Hurricane went through. Yes, that is what my husband affectionally calls me when I'm in the kitchen. Which, now that I recipe develop almost everyday now our kitchen doesn't stay clean very long.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Just get in that kitchen and go for it! You'll never learn what works and what doesn't unless you just start. I found not following recipes and allowing my own pallet to decide was the easiest way for me to grow. Don't get me wrong there were many failed recipe tries before I got it right.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
Is it odd that I don't want to invite a celebrity or anyone like that? That is way to much pressure. My dream dinner party would be my closest family and friends and cook them all the delicious recipes that are in my Gluten-Free Party Food cookbook set to be released in little over a month. That is one heck of a way to celebrate a book launch.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I love being behind my camera. I also love to be outside running, gardening during the summer.
