When did you first start knitting / crocheting and where did you learn?
I started when I was 8. My mom had always knit and started getting back into it, so I learned and she relearned together. It was great fun and I look forward to teaching my son.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
A hideous maroon garter stitch scarf.
Who are your favourite pattern designers and celebrity knitters & crocheters?
There are so many talented crafters out there! I adore Kirsten Kapur, Cirilia Rose, Nancy Bush, Alice Starmore... The list goes on and on.
What are your favourite things to stitch and do you have a favorite item you've made?
I love a good hardcore lace project that challenges me. I made my mom a beautiful lace shawl a couple of years ago with over 1000 beads. I love making my mom lace shawls because she understands the work that goes into it and appreciates good yarn and actually wears them. However, Fair Isle knitting is my favorite. Anything Fair Isle, bring it on!
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
I like watching Downton Abbey, Veronica Mars, Firefly, Doctor Who... Any series that I can just pop in another disc and keep knitting.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I crochet and I am obsessed with photography and cycling (not at the same time). I love playing with Legos and going on nature walks with my son, making a mess in the kitchen and doing puzzles with over 10,000 pieces.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Knitting is good for the soul. I think if everyone knit, the world would be a kinder, gentler place with less hate and more fiber.
