Suburban Renovation

I think that any first time home buyer is hoping to get more for their money, which usually doesn't happen. We knew that the house we bought was going to need some TLC, but we were willing to put in the work. Between painting, renovating and decorating the house, we have come to love it! There is still so much more to do, but we are excited to continue making it our own!

My first DIY for my home was making new slip covers for my dining room chairs. They were a tan suede, which I covered with a gray canvas. I had a lot of help from my sister-in-law. They came out looking so good that I decided I needed to DIY more often. That is how Suburban Renovation was born!

I find that the best way to stay organized is to donate things that I no longer use. Your donations can include anything from clothes to furniture to kitchenware. I find that by doing this, I streamline my home and stay much more organized! It also helps to make room for new things (which sometimes defeats the purpose of donating in the first place)!

I would love to tour the homes of some of the designers seen on HGTV. I am always so inspired by their creative ideas, but often wonder how they might design for themselves.

I am starting to really love our house because we have already done so much to it, but there are definitely still some improvements to be made. If I had three wishes, my first would be to give my house some curb appeal in the form of a nice new walkway, some landscaping and a front porch upgrade. My second would be finishing off the basement as a man cave for my husband. My last wish would be to fully upgrade the kitchen. All of these are on my wishlist and hopefully we will accomplish them one day!

Crafting has certainly become a big hobby of mine. I have done everything from making pillows to spray painting furniture to making christmas ornaments. I also love to paint, watch bad reality TV and read murder myseteries!
