Tell us a bit about your home and what you love about it the most?
We recently left our LA apartment to move into a small rental home on
the outskirts of town, and we were lucky enough to find a place with a
huge yard and garage (sometimes a rarity in LA!). What we love about
it most is that we have put a personal stamp on pretty much every
single piece of furniture or decor that we have. We love DIY projects
with a geeky twist, restoring vintage furniture, and just doing things
together to bring the place to life. Thankfully we have a landlord who
gives us free rein to paint or make changes to the house.
What was the first DIY project you did to your home or first thing you made for it?
So much! It's hard to remember what came first. Right before we moved
in, we pulled up the carpet to expose and refinish the hardwood
floors, painted the walls, put up moulding, and made a quick built-in
bookcase and a fireplace facade in the living room (all for under
$200). After we were fully moved in, the first fun DIY project that we
did was our $2 Legend of Zelda 8-bit fireplace.
Do you have any tips for staying tidy & organised?
Ha! We wish. That is definitely not our strong point. :)
If you could tour any celebrities home, who would it be?
George Lucas.
If you had three wishes, what changes would you make to your home?
A guest bedroom, a second bathroom, and a little more natural light.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Does putting LEGO sets together count? Our main hobby is playing video
games. Every couple should co-op together. We also love camping with
our dog and a stack of comic books.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
We <3 Cut Out + Keep, and are happy to be a part of this community.
