Tell us a bit about your home and what you love about it the most?
We built our home 12 years ago and there are several features of it that I really love: #1 is my 'office'. I carved out a room just for me and my crafting. It's everything I hoped it would be. #2 is that my counter tops have all been raised. I'm a tall gal and I really appreciate the height as I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. #3 is that its an eclectic home. I don't know if anyone could nail down the 'style'. I like many different styles and our home reflects most of them.
What was the first DIY project you did to your home or first thing you made for it?
When our home was being built, I found several antique sideboards that I turned into vanities for some of our bathrooms.
Do you have any tips for staying tidy & organised?
I'm all about good looking organization, I call it functional aesthetics. When my organizational vessels are good looking, then I'm more inclined to keep my stuff organized. I use old silver pieces to store my knitting stuff, pretty glass canisters for my paint brushes, etc...
If you could tour any celebrities home, who would it be?
I spent 10 great years in Nashville and fell in love with the city and the surrounding country. There are some phenomenal homes there and I think I'd love to see the home of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. It's on lots of land so it would surely have a country estate feel to it and I think it'd be a great mix of classic and contemporary...and family.
If you had three wishes, what changes would you make to your home?
1. Redo my laundry room
2. Paint the exterior brick
3. Make the landscaping less maintenance-intensive
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Here's what I might be be doing at any given time:
Knitting
Crocheting
Embroidery
Gardening
Painting
Reading
Travelling
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Thanks for this honor! After having a banking career followed by a rewarding and blissful 'mom' career, I'm enjoying my third career of just creating things. It's so great to be acknowledged for doing something you love.
