Tell us a bit about your home and what you love about it the most?
We built our house about 10 years ago and our girls (9 and 7) don't know anyplace else as "home". While I love every square foot, it doesn't stop me from inserting new colours and trying new DIYs to add to its warmth.
What was the first DIY project you did to your home or first thing you made for it?
The first project I tried was a desk makeover. I decided to take my Dad's childhood desk and make it over to a more feminine version for my daughter to use. It's stood the test of time, but I think my fidgety-ness will call for another makeover of it in the near future.
Do you have any tips for staying tidy & organised?
I love tidy, I love organized - but my family does not. No matter how many solutions I try to implement, my home will always look "lived in" - I'm on medication to help me accept that. lol
If you could tour any celebrities home, who would it be?
Diane Keaton, or maybe Jennifer Aniston, possibly Oprah? I associate Diane Keaton with Hampton's style (from the movie Something's Gotta Give). I've read Jennifer Aniston is quite the interior designer and I know Oprah once worked with Nate Berkus - so maybe a combination? Nate Berkus does Hampton decor with Jen Aniston's style and budget?
If you had three wishes, what changes would you make to your home?
Beyond clean and tidy you mean? I'd love to have a man cave for my husband - with all the estrogen in this house he could use a getaway.
I'd love a small lap pool - ideally one that could cover an convert to an ice rink for our frigid Canadian winters.
This might seem silly, but I'd also like a finished laundry room - nothing extravagant - okay extravagant would be nice too - but something beyond the exposed studs and linoleum we have right now.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I like to try most crafts, but DIY and building are my newest loves. I had no idea how easy it was to create the home you want with just a mitre saw and a drill! I enjoy paper crafts, painting and my first love (besides my husband and kids) is my blog - where I can share it all with you!
