When did you first start knitting / crocheting and where did you learn?
Knitting and crocheting has been a very big part of my childhood, my mum and sister used to make the most amazing creations…..my mum’s fairisle hats were legendary!
I have knitted and crocheted as a child, but without practice what I’ve learned was quickly forgotten. About 10 years ago I have rediscovered my skill and an obsession was born! I have not stopped knitting, crocheting and designing since.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
In knitting - It was a bag with flower corsage on to of it, I still have it somewhere!
In crochet - a headband from Rowan mag 39, still wear it.
Who are your favourite pattern designers and celebrity knitters & crocheters?
There are just so many, but if I had to choose my favourite two than it has to be: Kim Hargreaves, very classic and well fitted. I have knitted so many of her patterns and I'm always overjoyed with the shape and fit. And Andi Satterlund who’s designs are just so fresh and wearable with a lovely vintage twist.
What are your favourite things to stitch and do you have a favorite item you've made?
I love to accessorise and love making corsages, shawls, headbands, gloves, hats, purses anything I can do to jazz up my wardrobe I'll make it!
I have two favourite items:
The first one is my 'Laurel' shawl which I wear with almost everything.
The second one is 'Moonstone' cardigan by Kim Hargreaves; I have made lots of those cropped cardis as I keep on wearing them to death.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
I have a very varied music taste and listen to most everything, but most often accompaining my knitting or crocheting there will be Korn, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sound Garden.
On Podcast - KnitBritish all the way.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I have started the very exciting journey into sewing. Have made a fantastic dress called Anna by By Hand London, as this dress is my name sake I had to make it few times not because I can't make anything else, oh no. But with all honesty I'm terrible at sewing.
