When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I remember baking at home in my early teens once we started taking Home Ec in school, but I really didn't do too much of it up until 5 years ago when I got into cake decorating. Recently I completed an intensive pastry program and have revitalized my blog and my baking!
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
I live in an apartment, so my kitchen isn't huge. I do have a good amount of counter space and a whole cabinet dedicated to baking.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Practice, organization, and patience. I'll admit I am lacking the latter. Baking can be unforgiving and it takes time (especially with trickier recipes) to get things right. Don't get discouraged and keep trying! Stay organized, measure out your ingredients before starting, read the WHOLE recipe before starting, keep your work area clean (especially if you have a small kitchen!). Oh and invest in a kitchen scale :).
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I would prefer to go TO the dinner party and bring dessert rather than throw one. What would I make? A bunch of different desserts -- a cake, macarons, pies... variety.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Aside from baking I enjoy spending time blogging and researching new recipes and techniques.
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
I Am Baker is a good one. Amanda is hilarious!
