When did you first start sewing and how did you learn?
My mother taught me along with my entire girl scout troop in the late '70s.
Can you remember the first thing you made?
My first project sewn with a machine was a three-tiered, gathered "prairie" skirt from a green calico fabric.
Do you have any favourite pattern designers or celebrity sewers?
I have a huge collection of vintage sewing patterns, my archive of inspiration. I especially love Vogue patterns from the 30's, 40's and 50's.
What's your sewing room like and how do you organize your stash?
Controlled chaos...I do know where most everything is at any given time but truthfully it is usually a whirling swirl of in-progress, to be completed, just got started and nearly done project overload.
What music/podcasts/TV shows do you love to stitch along to?
My soundtrack is pretty eclectic with a predilection for classic punk and metal.
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Most folks would call me a textile junkie! I've recently rediscovered embroidery but this time around I'm experimenting with it to create some interesting new art pieces. I am also a huge knitter, spinner (maker of yarn not exercise) and dyer. I have a line of luxury handspun and hand dyed yarns that I sell along with some of my knitting patterns under the name hellomello handspun through Etsy.com.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Creativity is a lovely little monster that lives inside. Feed the monster and it will come out to play.
