When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
When I started blogging I was really into cupcakes. Overtime, my interest of cooking and baking expanded to other things. I had this increasing desire to want to cook with different ingredients and try different techniques and methods.
The first recipe I tried was when I was 12. I called myself frying chicken but we didn't have any oil. We only had some butter and shortening. So I melted whatever could pass as oil and decided to fry some chicken. I didn't know what I was doing and the chicken was horrible, but I tried.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
I am not a home owner. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment and the kitchen is pretty standard. I try to keep organized by using bins and containers but with this expensive hobby called cooking I am getting more gadgets so my average size kitchen is beginning to seem a little small.
I use to be really bad at cooking and keep the kitchen clean at the same time. I think I have gotten better at cleaning as I cook and using my dishwasher, at least, once a day.
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
I would tell someone who is wanting to become a better cook to get in the kitchen and go for it. Don't be afraid to make mistakes because you may find something that really works. Try different ingredients and herbs to add flavor to your food. Cooking is fun if you are willing to explore.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I would invite Michael Symon, Kelsey Nixon, Bobby Flay, Ree Drummond, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, the First Family, my family and friends, and host of food blogging buddies.
I would cook a foods from my favorite types of food. I would make pasta, taco, fried chicken, and peach cobbler. I would also make sure there is lots of wine involved
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
I wish I was a crafty person but I'm not. My main hobby is cooking, baking, and blogging.
