When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?

I've been cooking (or attempting to cook) as long as I can remember. I used to love sitting on the kitchen counter while my Dad made "special breakfast" - a weekend tradition - helping him whisk the pancake batter. My true love for cooking began when I met Marc in college and we discovered how much we loved cooking together.

What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?

When we first toured our house, my kitchen was my DREAM kitchen. I used to joke that I didn't even need to see the rest of my house, I was sold on the kitchen itself. It still is my dream kitchen in many ways but after 4 years there are a few tweaks I would make - I would love to do a facel ift on the cabinets and granite (and go white!) and definitely need more natural light for food photos! It's not easy to say organized and this is always an aspirational goal for my kitchen, but I do find I stay more organized if I clean as I go.

What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?

Practice makes perfect has never applied more. The more you cook, the better you'll get. Also, don't be afraid to take chances and challenge yourself.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?

If I could host a dream dinner party, it would be for our family and ALL of our friends, old and new. We love to host and entertain, but we don't do it nearly as often as we used to or I would like! As we get older and more entrenched in our lives as adults and with our own family, it's also been harder to see our friends with the frequency we'd like (especially now that we are all so spread out!). I'd love to bring as many people together for a reunion as possible and cook for everyone! Something delicious, something family style - what it is is almost less important, being together matters more!

Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?

If I had all the time in the world, I would love to work on decorating my house (I did about 80% before I got burnt out!). My other hobbies include spinning, traveling and reading.

Which cooking blogs do you love to read?

Rachl Mansfield, Brocc Your Body, Pinch of Yum, Love and Lemons, What's Gaby Cooking, The Schmidty Wife
