what kind of glue did you use? i tried this one time with modpodge, but it came out way too flimsy and wouldn't hold it's round shape...

The petroleum jelly that you cover the balloon in keeps the glue from sticking. I watered down the glue, added the yarn and then as I pulled it out of the bowl just squeezed the extra out. It was wet but not dripping. My first attempt was with acrylic yarn and that didn't hold the glue, when I switched to cotton it worked much better. Hope that is helpful.

This is a great project!
I made something similar to these a while ago - using the glue - but I ended up with glue all over the balloon that made a real mess once dry. It flaked and filled in the spaces.
How did you get yours so tidy? (could you explain the soaking/removing process a little more)
Thanks! Happy

The yarn with the glitter is white yarn. The red is acrylic that didn't hold together but looked better for the photographs. I tried using mod podge to hold the glitter but it was taking too long for my two year old to stay interested.

Sorry if this was confusing.

Love it! But I can't stand the smell of spray paint, so I think I'll go get some white yarn. ;)

I love this idea! I might try to make these as gift ornaments. And I like the last step, about enjoying the smell by that time, lol
