About
I wanted to do something nice for my friends that are getting married, so I decided to make a totally ridiculous headband that they could wear in honor of their upcoming nuptials.
I feel like this year is just going to be perpetual wedding receptions. So far we have something like three or four weddings to go to, most of which are happening in October, so we’re going to be super busy these next few months. So I wanted to make them something for their special day; thus the headband was born. It’s super cute, super easy and has a lot of personality.

Step 1
Crochet your cakes and stuff them. You can make as many layers/colors as you want. You can even make them look like the wedding cake, but I didn’t know what her wedding cake looks like so I stuck with plain white.
Working in the round:
First Tier
With white, form an adjustable ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring - 6 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st - 12 sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next] 6 times - 18 sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next] 6 times - 24 sc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc around in bk lps - 24 sc.
Rnds 6-9: Ch 1, sc around - 24 sc. Fasten off
at the end of rnd 9.Second Tier
With white, form an adjustable ring.
Follow rnds 1-4 of First Tier.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next] 12 times - 36 sc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc around in bk lps - 36 sc.
Rnds 7-10: Ch 1, sc around - 36 sc.
Fasten off at the end of rnd 10. -
Step 2
Sew or glue your layers of cake together and allow to dry. Then it’s just a matter of gluing your finished cake onto your headband. This project takes “several hours”, but most o f that is waiting for the glue to dry. I actually use the rubber band to hold the cakes in place on the headband while the glue is drying.

Step 3
Then just wear and enjoy!
You could add some veil material, or maybe make some crochet flowers to add, but I didn’t want to go TOO over the top in case they didn’t like it. I find that when you’re giving a gift it’s better not to go as totally wild and crazy as you might if you were making something for yourself; go figure. I also love how totally kitsch this headband turned out and I could see it being something you would make someone wear at their engagement or Bachelorette party.
