Step 1
1. Take masking tape and make a frame with it in the size and shape you want for your blackboard. If you are putting it on a certain object with limited space remember if you want to make a colourful border for it (like the picture) you need to leave room for this).
2. Using blackboard/black matte paint (which you can get online around £4 or at diy store) paint within the confines of the masking tape using brush strokes doing the same way so it is as flat and smooth as possible. Make sure to ventilate the room well!
3. Wait until the paint is 100% dry and then remove the masking tape.

Step 2
4. You now have a blackboard.
5. Now put masking tape along the very edges of the INSIDE of the blackboard as pictured. Make sure the ends of the tape are straight so it is all straight etc. Then make another masking tape frame outside the blackboard shape - the gap between is where you will paint your frame.
6. Paint this inbetween space in your chosen colour.
7. Let this dry completely.
8. Remove the masking tape gently to reveal your blackboard!!

Step 4
OPTIONAL - Duster
To make the duster get the thick fabric (like felt or blotting cotton - a good and cheap idea is to use a thick duster or other cleaning item) and cut it into several squares. I used 6 squares. glue these all together to make a wedge of fabric.
Now take the cardboard and cut two squares slightly larger than the fabric wedge. Next get the faux leather (you can also use other durable fabric or flexible plastic if you chose) and wrap the card board in it like a present, glueing it together as you go.
Get three pieces of long string or wool (you need it to be at least the diagonal length of your blackboard) and braid/plait it if it is not very thick string.
Take the string and lay it on the underside of the card/leather bit and glue it on. Then glue the wedge on top of this so you turn it over and have a duster on a string.
Attach the string to the surface so the duster hangs and can reach all the blackboard.
Done!
