Ho ho ho!
Santa Claus measures around 8cm.

If you have problems following the pattern please let me know.

NOTE:
- If you wish to give the head a little colour dip it in warm tea and let it dry... as you can see my Santa's also got a bit of colour on his cheeks I achieved this simply by colouring his cheeks with a pencil.
- There's a button glued to his back and onto that button there's a safety pin glued so I can wear it as a brooch.
- leave the pom pom out, try some different colours and you'll have a gnome.

    MAKING UP
ARMS: Join row ends, turn right side out and stuff. sew open cast on edge to side of body, just below the neck.
Join row ends of each leg. gather round the cast on edges, pull up tightly and fasten off.
Turn right side out. stuff legs, body and head. do not close gap in head seam. To shape neck, usa a double strand of red yarn and gather around first knitted row of white head. Pull up tightly and secure. Sew yarn ends into neck.

BODY & HEAD: For eyes, use a single strand of black yarn , place the stitches where you want the eyes to be and stitch untill you have a nice round shape.

Sew on the beard just below the eyes but make sure to leave enough room to embroider a mouth (a single stitch) and the moustache (2 diagonal stitches). When face is completed, add more stuffing to hide the ends, then close the gap in the seam.

Sew on the hat. Make a tiny pom pom by winding your yarn around two knitting needles (I used no.4) place a piece of yarn in between the knitting needles and tie the yarn on it. Slip the loops off and cut the loops open, shape it and attach to top of hat.

Embroider the buckle by placing two horizontal and two vertical sts in bright yellow on the two black rows on its tummy.

I got lost on the beard. After row 7 are there not six stitches left (three each side)? Row 8 says knit two stitches four times. How do I do this on one side only before going to the other and how do I do it with three stitches each side. Please.

You are right you should cast off 8 stitches (in stead of 6) which will leave 2 stitches each side so 4 in total. Put 2 stitches on one side on spare needle. To make santas sideburn you will have to knit 2 stitches at one end, turn, k2, turn, k2, turn, knit 2. Cast off. Then repeat the same for the other two stitches you put on spare needle to make the other sideburn. Hope this helps!
