The Jenny Bag Purse Tutorial
Download pattern at lola...again's blog. Important I forgot to mark that the purse handle (one of the short sides) needs to be placed on a fold.
To make this purse I started with 2 different half yards of fabric, and 1 yard of fusible pellon. I had some of all of it left over...not sure of exact measurements at the moment.
Seam allowances 1/4 inch.

Step 1Cut all pieces, and fuse pellon to all of them except: one of inner pocket, one of outer pocket, and one of outer pocket flap.

Step 2Sew outer pocket pieces together with right sides together. Leave one end open for turning.

Step 3Clip corners. Press to set stitches, and turn inside out. Press again.

Step 4Turn open ends in 1/4 inch and press.

Step 5Top stitch outer pocket at 1/4 inch. Repeat steps 1-5 with inner pocket.........

Step 6and do the same with pocket flap.

Step 7Fold one piece of the purse lining in half, and press in a crease.

Step 8Press a center crease on the inner pocket piece .

Step 9Match creases. Place pocket in the middle of purse body, and pin.

Step 10Edge stitch slong sides and bottom, leaving the top open. Stitch down center of pocket about 1/4 inch apart.

Step 11Repeat pocket application steps with front pocket,pocket flap, and front of purse body.

Step 12sew around 3 sides.

Step 13Place top of flap about 1/2 inch above the top of pocket.

Step 14Edge stitch across top of flap.

Step 15With right sides together, sew sides and bottom of purse.

Step 16sew down side, and stop at cut out square. Skip over the square, and stitch across the bottom, skip again, and up the other side.

Step 17match side seam, and bottom seam where square is cut out.

Step 18Sew at 1/4 inch

Step 19This makes the flat bottom for your purse.

Turn purse right side out and press seams flat.

Step 21Repeat steps 14-17 with purse lining. Leave lining inside out, and press seams flat.

Step 22place purse inside of lining, matching seams.

Step 23sew around top edge leaving a 3 inch openinc

Step 24Turn it all right side out.

Step 25Tuck lining inside. Press opening in 1/4 inch.

Step 26Edge stitch around top of purse.

Step 27Get handle pieces and press in half the long way.

Step 28Open flat, and press one side to center crease.

Step 29Press other side to center crease.

Step 30Fold each end over 1/4 inch and stitch down.

Step 31Fold handle in half and press again.

Step 32Edge stitch down both sides of both handles.

Step 33Place handles about one inch from side seam, and 1/2 inch down from the top of the bag.

Step 34Stitch handles on to front and back of bag.

Press bag and embelish however you would like!
