Sip tea with your own homemade tea bags!
I saw this adorable tea bag DIY at Yours Truly, G and decided to try it tonight! I think it came out super cute, and each tea bag only takes about 5 minutes if you already have your sewing station set-up. Follow my instructions below. Mine are slightly different than the DIY I referenced originally—mostly because I didn’t want to use a staple.

Fold the coffee filter into quarters. Cut a square out of the middle. Cut that square on its two adjacent corners to create a total of four squares.

Sew your squares on three sides. I used two different colors of thread that matched my tea tag paper.

Optional: Cut the corners to round off the edges of the tea bag—but not too close to the seam.

Clip threads. Fill your bag with loose tea leaves about 2/3 of the way up. I recommend crushing some of the herbs if they’re too long or sharp so they don’t rip the bag.

Sew the top closed and poke a hole in the seam allowance where you want to put the tea bag string through.

Put the string through the top and tie a knot (or three). As a note, next time I’ll probably find a thicker thread for the tea bag string.

Cut your paper into cute tags (use paper scissors, not fabric scissors).

I think these are a great idea for gifts or little party favors. You can also experiment with mixing different teas and creating tea bag cocktails of your favorite herbs!
