An easy stitched chain purse.
This is a project I added to the site ages ago, but it mysteriously went missing when we changed server.

Anyway, this was a present for my friend <a href="http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/users/65">Miquette</a>.

  • How to sew a fabric pouch. Strawberry Purse - Step 1
    Step 1

    Draw out a rectangle on the felt, but slant two of the corners inwards.

    Cut out the rectangle shape.

    Cut another rectangle, this time measuring.

    Thread a needle with hot pink embroidery thread.

    Step 5

    Place the smaller rectangle on top, at the bottom, of the larger rectangle and stitch around the outside. Make sure to leave the inside edge unstitched.

    Step 6

    Lay our the lining fabric and draw around the outline of the purse on to the fabric.

    Cut out this shape.

    Pin the lining fabric to the outside of the purse.

    Thread a needle.

    Stitch around the outline again, securing the lining fabric in place.

    When you have finished, turn the purse inside out, so that the pink felt faces out.

    Choose an appropriate button.

    Stitch the button in place.

    Make a button hole in the flap where it meets the button.

    Step 15

    To decorate I made two strawberries out of red and green felt and used little butterfly buttons.

This is very cute and I'm going to use this idea/pattern to make tooth fairy pillows for my two granddaughters and three grandsons. It will be a place where they can leave their tooth and the tooth fairy can leave their money.
