About
Sock Critter Cutie
I recently bought a terrific book called, _Stray Sock Sewing_ needless to say, I fell in love with one of the critters in the book and had to try to make him. He is filled with coffee and rice and smells like you could drink him. My 18 year old also fell in love with the same one from the book so this little guy whom I have dubbed, Maxwell, will be under the tree this year for her. He will be delivered in his house...ummm,converted coffee container that is...you know, Maxwell's House.
Maxwell is made out of set of wool socks I found at Goodwill for $0.59 so he is almost free to make if you shop in the right places or if you have plenty of stray socks on hand. I trimmed the top of the sock and that became his arms and legs and mouth and his cute little ears. I used a stocking and filled it with dry rice and scoops of ground coffee (I didn't have any coffee beans.) I then tied off each end and stuffed it in the sock. Maxwell is so floppy and cute and easy to make. Check out the book, it has lots of step-by-step instructions on how to make the dolls in the book (Maxwell is not one of the ones it tells you how to make, so I just followed the picture.) Have fun falling in love with your socks.

Here are some similar tutorials to help you make this one!
He is the first one I made from the book. I am working on a sheep one now.
I have that book too, but haven't had the chance to make anything from it yet!
