a pair of old flats turned into a pair of new shoes!
The five hours is a rough estimate, but keep in mind it was spread over a week and the and sewing/stitching can take some time.

This is my first real recon project I've put a lotta time into, and I'm very happy with the result.

I wore them on Tuesday to school, and I had told people about them and stuff, and I got comments from a few of my friends that it was 'so creative' and that I'm going to be on Project Runway... and now people think I design my own clothes which I don't really.

Anyways... If you wanna know how I did it, send me a message and I'll start work on a how-to! I took pictures through out the process if any one would want to see.

    Step 3

•After deciding on a pair of flats to work with, take a pair of scissors, or a seam ripper- it’s a little less to the fabric.

    Step 4

•Start making alterations in the shape of the flat by trimming away parts where so choose, remember to repeat this on its left or right counterpart evenly.

    Step 5

•Now, start cutting pieces of fabric to cover the outsides, for the toe region you can use various fabric scraps or one type of fabric, to create a slightly creative grunge or eccentric look by sewing small strips by machine (or hand) to a base piece.

    Step 6

•Now start pinning your fabric pieces to the body of the flat, except the toe piece and sew on by hand. (OPTIONAL: Before sewing/stitching you can use an iron on adhesive to tack the fabric pieces in place.)

    Step 7

•After all the pieces have been adhered and sewn/stitched on, you can pin or clip the toe piece in place before sewing.

•You’ll then stitch the toe piece in place and trim off any excess fabric.
