Mine were an utter fail! I followed step by step, however, the colours were very pale/barely visible (i guess i need to add A LOT more colouring) and the cupcakes barely rose then sank... advice please?!
Ok I made this with plenty of food colouring and did the recipie to the letter but the colours came out all bland and grey-like apart from the yellow which is mega neon yellow :\
can I just ask- why does it sometimes turn out with brown on the top? cause I've tried this twice and on one occasion it turned brown on top and pastelly colours inside but the other time it was perfect
need, to, make, these. birthday, in, 4, days... *stares* O_O *eyes explode rainbows* OMFG THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!! im going to make a cake!!! I CANT WAIT!!!
rawr, lizzy :3
if you don't want to make the batter out of scratch, you can use ultra moist cake mix and add equal amounts to different bowls then add food coloring from there.

I just made these! But i didn't have food colouring and so they;re just plain, i'm going to buy some more ingredients tomorrow to do it again with the coloufulness :L Oh yeah and by the way you didn't put how much sugar was needed :T
I am so sad. ive tried these twice, and they both came out terribly. i followed the directions exactly... Can someone help me figure out what im doing wrong?
These look amazing, I'd love to make them, but I'd like to know how many calories they are, does anyone know? Much appreciated... they are veeeeeeeeeery pretty though!!
i'm so happy that you took AND uploaded 14 pictures of the cupcakes. shows your true spirit as a crafter if i do say so myself (EXACTLY what i would have done ...)
I LOVE these! I made them, and while it took me FOREVER to do the different layers of colors (I wanted to make sure they didn't swirl together), it was so worth it. They looked amazing and tasted great!
I put icing on them and surprised my friends with them. They were so shocked when they saw the inside and thought I had bought the cupcakes somewhere.
Great recipe! We'd love it if you'd join our recipe card swap! http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/30141

Hey this looks really cool and before I make them I have one small qeustion..
Can i use regular sugar? like the stuff in my pantry? I'm too lazy to go shopping right now..
Me and my nephew have just made them e was so excited when they came out the oven! I had to rip one in half straight away so he could see the mix inside!
this has to be the most poplaur thing on CO&K, im making them tonight, to help with making a person feel better (she got cancer, and im hoping to cheer her up)
Bah, following the directions turned out to be a little challenging with the portions/ingredient amounts that you provided. I did figure it out eventually though, despite some oven malfunctions that were totally unexplainable.
But these turned out adorable and my boyfriend thought it was the greatest birthday cupcake ever.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! please!!! I need help with these!!! can somebody tell me the trick to avoid the "infected-mushroom" effect?? T_T I always end up with green and yellow spots on the top of my cupcakes T_T heeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!
I finally got around to making these and they taste DELICIOUS! All my friends think so too and my mom said we are definitely saving this recipe!!! Thank you so much!
Going to try to add a different flavor to each color.
Red: Strawberry (Probably like a dab of jam or strawberry sauce)
Orange: Orange (Orange Juice)
Yellow: Lemon (Juice from a lemon + lemon zest)
Green: Lime (Juice from a lime)
Blue: Blueberry (Blueberry Juice, or possibly Blueberry pomagranite juice)
Purple: Grape (Grape Juice)

I make some like these too, mine are swirlies though. I usually put chocolate icing on top and use dark papers so no one knows these are all colourful. I love seeing peoples faces the first time the bite into one of these!
I know this is really late but if you did not find a website and you need one for the future, here is one:
