A true piggy bank "Oink Oink!!!"
So I've wanted to make a piggy bank for quite sometime and wasnt sure how to. Then!, it hit me. Lol Use a balloon and put clay around it. Its time consuming and you may think "this sucks and it wont work" but just keep going. I then was going to make an opening at the bottom where you could empty the coins. Then my boyfriend says "NO!, Make it a true piggy bank." So there is no opening. Only way you can get the money out is if you shake it vigorously!, or break it. Have fun and I hope you enjoy. If anyone has a better way of making one please let me know in the comments or on my profile! Thanks a bunch! <3

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 1
    Step 1

First kneed your clay to make it soft and easy to work with.

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 2
    Step 2

Blow a balloon up just a tiny bit or I guess as big as you want but I didnt have much clay and I found that if the balloon was small it was easier.

Also cut off the end of the balloon after tying it off.

    Step 3

Flatten pieces of clay. I found it was easier to work with smaller pieces and add on.

    Step 4

Wrap the pieces carefully working slow to cover the balloon.

I also wet the the balloon a little bit. I dont know if that made a difference, but after 3 times of trying without it I think it did. :D

    Step 5

Slowly and carefully even out the clay fixing holes. Dont squeeze or pull to hard because you'll make more rips and holes which will just make you angry. Lol

This is the longest process which took me an hour to do. Just have patience. I smoothed it out as much as I could

    Step 6

Roll little stubbs for the legs and smooth them onto the clay covered balloon.

    Step 7

It should look a little something like this :D

    Step 8

Roll out a piece of clay which will be used for the tail.

    Step 9

I curled it onto it's butt area and when my boyfriend made a comment on it looking like poop I changed it. I dont have pictures of that except for in the ending product but I like the way it came out

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 10
    Step 10

For the nose I made another stub like the legs. Cut it in half and pulled edges out a bit to be able to stick it easily to his face to smooth it out.

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 11
    Step 11

For the ears make triangle shapes with flat bottoms to be able to smooth it easily onto its head.

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 12
    Step 12

That's the end product of the face

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 13
    Step 13

Cut a slit on the top of your piggy a bit larger than you think just so that you could maybe shake the money out.

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 14
    Step 14

Once you peel that clay out and off the piggy you will be able to see your balloon.

  • How to make a money bank. Piggy Bank - Step 15
    Step 15

I dont have pictures of this step.

To take the balloon out take a sewing pin and puncture it through and back up and use a little knife or your x-axcto knife to penetrate the balloon more. This was the easiest way I could think of.

I could tell the balloon was deflating and slowly pulled it out. Dont rush it or squeeze on your pig because then you'll mess up all your work! oh no!

Then bake your piggy. It will not collapse into itself and when done let it cool and paint it! I also added a little pink bow.

Tada! your very own Piggy Bank. Great for a little girl or boy!
