Create a funky, personalized coffee / tea cozy from an old men's silk tie!
This super simple project is perfect for the chilly months AND perfect for coffee and tea drinkers. Silk ties wrapped around take-away cups are cute to look at and protect our hands from the heat!

    Cut an old tie to approximately 15 inches (~38 cm)

    Fold over the edge and stitch- just to seal the cut edge.

    Sorry for the different tie, but it's easier to see! Stitch a piece of velcro on the OUTSIDE of the tie at the cut end.

    Add the other velcro half to the UNDERSIDE of the pointy end.

Does it protect your hands from the hat of the mug?

Hi, Steph! Depending on the thickness of the tie and the mug/cup- it does! But you could also trace the tie on a piece of felt and then stitch that on the backside (before adding the velcro of course) and that will definitely insulate it well.
