A nice prop for a tragic/horror story
This might seem a bit freaky.

It was a prop for a live roleplaying game where an ancient vampire Prince (female) walked around with the prematurely born child from her human life. The child was 'born' when she was Turned. The players were suitably impressed by their Prince and 'her child'. (The Prince was a gruesome sight too... her normal lush hair and beauty gone, she was now bald and looking mad)

The fetus/baby had to look like it had been mummified and buried for a while. I had a great time making this prop.

  • How to make a model or sculpture. Mummified Baby Doll - Step 1
    Step 1

Get your baby doll* and take of the head to remove the eyes and shape the mouth into something hideous.

    * Make it a small doll. Most dolls look like they're a few weeks old baby's at the least, this one had to be like a few months early for delivery.

    Step 2

Spray paint the head. I used black and gold because I had those lying around and it would give a bit of a moldy appearance if it ever shimmered through the toilet paper layers that were to follow.

    Step 3

    Spraypaint the body too.

Have it dry enough to handle it without getting paint everywhere.

    Step 4

Cover the head with a first layer of toilet paper. The paint was still a bit sticky so the toilet paper did not really need gluing.

Cover the eyes. On this unborn baby they had not opened yet. I pricked open one eye later to represent some damage of being buried for a while.

    Step 5

Cover up the body with toilet paper as well. Remember to put the limbs in the desired position first because after adding the toilet paper they won't be moveable anymore.

    Step 6

Attach the head to the body again.

I cut out some holes where I thought the space between the ribs should be. Remember it has been decaying for a bit, despite being embalmed and mummified.

    Step 7

Continue adding toilet paper with wallpaper glue until you think the layer is thick enough.

Try out some colors, mostly brownish/greyish. You should mix the paint with wallpaper glue before applying to the toilet paper.

    Step 8

This piece of paper was added later to make some 'loose skin' and the umbilical cord.

    Step 9

The umbilical cord is a piece of twisted and glue-soaked toilet paper. Just glue it with one end to the baby.

I put some crumpled up and painted toilet paper into the head to fill it a bit. It was such an empty space.

The eyes are covered with toilet paper with a hole pricked into one.
Underneath the open part of the ribcage there's some toilet paper to simulate shriveled lungs and other organs.

I added darker splotches of paint here and there to represent dried up blood. It was a tragic 'birthing' and that had to show.

This is the best picture I have of the finished result.

That's really creepy and kinda ingenious for a halloween idea at the same time.
