Crochet a monster
Gauge: Not important for this project - yay! Monsters can be short or tall, skinny or chubby and they will still be a ton of fun!
Note: Monsters are worked in a continuous round, do NOT turn or join.
Abbreviations:
sc = single crochet
st (s) = stitch (es)
sc2tog = single crochet two stitches together
rnd = round

Step 1
Body:
Foundation round: Make an adjustable ring, ch 1, sc 5 into de ring (6sc)
Rnd 1: 2sc into each st (12 sc)
Rnd 2: (2sc into the next stitch, sc into next st)* repeat to the end of the round (16 sc)
Rnd 3: (2sc into the next stitch, sc into next 2 sts)* repeat to the end of the round (24 sc)
Rnd 4: (2sc into the next stitch, sc into next 3 sts)* repeat to the end of the round (30 sc)
Rnd 5: sc around until you reach the desirable body length. Mine are usually 5.5"
Rnd 6: *Sc2tog, sc in the next 3 sts; repeat from * to the end of the round (24 sc)
Sew the felt parts and attach the safety eye (s) following the package instructions.
Start stuffing the body with polyester fiber fill.
Rnd 7: *Sc2tog, sc in the next 2 sts; repeat from * to the end of the round (16 sc)
Rnd 8: *Sc2tog, sc in the next 1 sts; repeat from * to the end of the round (12 sc)
Rnd 9: *Sc2tog, sc in the next 3 sts; repeat from * to the end of the round (6 sc)
Fasten off. Leave a long tail. Weave tail through the last round and gather tightly. Secure with a knot. -
Step 2
Arms & Legs (Make 4):
Foundation round: Make an adjustable ring, ch 1, sc 5 into de ring (6sc)
Rnd 1: 2sc into each st (12 sc)
Rnd 2-6: sc around
Fasten off. Leave a long tail. Stuff each piece and sew them to the body. Weave in any loose ends.
