I'm going to try and make one. It would make a great Christmas present for my art teacher. You could also turn this into a really cute agenda just get a different kind of paper.

So I'm trying to make one for myself, but I've run into one key problem.
I love to have something under my paper when I'm writing. It's to prevent the utensil from feeling likes it is falling through the page, right? So how does your design hold up in that area? And any advice on how I could fix this in mine? I was debating attaching a piece of 1/16th inch maple wood in there somewhere, but I don't know where I'd be able to attach it while still being able to fit it between pages.
thanks -Angelo

Would leather not work? It'd b easy to attach a leather flap like the plastic one in a checkbook with duplicates. Shop around, maybe u can find a stiffer material/vinyl u can't hole punch/stich. They hav flexible but stiff plastic@craft store like that...it's transparent n I can't think of what it's for, quilt templates maybe

hmmmm... ya know, I don't remember! I guess if you're worried about them being too far apart, you could make them with fewer pages in them and just sew them in closer to each other. I probably would squish mine a bit more next time around to it's a little tighter.

Blackbird - it was 1.10 for the whole pack. I got it in the art section of my craft store (not the scrapbook part) where all the construction paper and big notepads are.

Truthfully, I'm fascinated. It looks... gothic and old with an awesome elegance. That probably makes absolutely no scense, but that journal is wicked sweet.

And I LOVE you for posting a How-To, because I've always wanted to have a journal like this, but the ready-to-buy ones never fit my taste.

Knittin' Kitten - yeah, each signature was sewn in one at a time. here's a website I found helpful when sewing the signatures in. I didn't do mine the same way (I did more than 3 signatures so I didn't skip any rows and then go back - just worked my way across going up and down the spine), but the basic sewing is what I did as far as the holes I used:
