Celebrate the power of generous action with the Kindness is Everything pattern for the 2018 Kindness KAL. Soft colors alternate in a calming rhythm, finished with a lace border. This top-down triangle shawl begins with a garter-tab cast on and includes both written and charted lace instructions.
YARN
Knitcircus Greatest of Ease, 80% merino, 20% nylon. 400 yards/100g
MC: 50 g gradient yarn
CC: 100 g speckled handpaint Colorway: Kindness is Everything
NEEDLES
US #5 or size needed to obtain gauge.
GAUGE
21 sts and 30 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette st. Gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect finished size and drape.

INSTRUCTIONS
Garter Tab CO
Using MC, CO 3 sts. Knit 5 rows.
Row 6 (WS): K3, then turn work and pick up and knit 3 sts from side of work, then turn work and pick up and knit 3 st from cast-on edge. (9 st)
Set Up Row (RS): K3, yo, k1, yo, pm, k1, pm, yo, k1, yo, k3. (13 st)
Stripes Section
Change to CC
When changing colors, do not cut unused color, but carry it up the side. Make sure to keep the carried strand loose, so the selvedge will drape naturally.
Row 1 and all WS Rows: K3, yo, purl to marker, sm, p1, sm, purl to 3 sts before end of row, yo, k3. (2 sts inc)
Row 2 and all RS rows: K3, yo, knit to marker, yo, sm, k1, sm, yo, knit to 3 sts before end of row, yo, k3. (4 sts inc)
Change to MC and repeat Rows 1 & 2.
Cont to rep Rows 1 and 2, changing from MC to CC and back until you have completed 104 rows and have 325 sts, ending after MC. Cut MC. (325 sts)
If you run low on MC before working through the 104th row, you can finish up in CC. Just make sure to discontinue MC after a Row 2.

Note: If yarn amount permits, repeat Garter Eyelet section one more time.
Bind off all sts using the stretchy BO of your choice.
