gasp, evil mold and mildew
Gasp! MOLD, that green fuzzy stuff that grows everywhere. If you are alleric like me, you know how bad it is. But did you know that old can make you very sick?

They release spores into the air and we breathe them in.

Here are ways to get the mold before it gets you.

  • Step 1

    Spray Method

first get out that vinegar and pour out a cup of it into a spray bottle.

Spray directly onto the infected surface and let dry. Do not rinse off. It will dry and the strong smell will fade in a hour or two.

  • Step 2

If you don't have a spray bottle [like me] use an old rag[just wash in hot water after] and dip the rag into a cup of vinegar.

So after dipping the rag into the vinegar, rub on the infected surface.

Try to get it all off. The wash the rag right way in hot soapy water.

Thanks for this great post. Also the washing machines are notoriously prone to mold growth. Since mold loves water, one of the main causes of washer mildew is residual water. If not removed, the mold develops and odor and transfers onto clothing during the wash cycle. Yes you can remove mold from clothes and save your favorite shirt but you really need to get to the source of the problem. Just google the problem, there are great tutorials on how to clean your washing machine.

used tons of bleach on my mould with no visible change - does this method make the colour go away or just kill it with the colour staying?

I was watching a day time talk show and they talked about using this on mold. Bleach kills mold, too, but the acidity in vinegar keeps mold from coming back! So, if you have a mold problem, use vinegar and let it air dry and the mold won't come back for a good long while! I use this on my windows in the Spring, because the moisture that seeps in from the cold air just breeds mold all Winter long. I refresh it a few months later just to be sure the mold stays gone!
