@Faith D. -- I did use just regular acrylic, it actually is holding up perfectly well. I would have used fabric paint but I couldnt find any in NYC and I didnt want to order any online because I couldnt find the perfect color.

what kind of paint did you use? just regular acrylic?

took me a second look to realize, taht you didnt used studs, which was to me much to expencive, but thumbtacks. geniuos!
