Clean Up Quick Spills and Old Stains
You can do this with either water or Windex. If you do it with Windex, please test it on an inconspicuous bit of carpet in case it stains.
You should be able to use water for this neat trick no matter what type of carpet it is.
Best time to pick up stains is when they are still spills! This will work for both old stains and new spills. You might need to repeat the process if the stains are older.

Step 3
The liquid causes the stain to loosen and rise off from the fibers.
Now you take a paper towel or white towel and press down (DO NOT RUB) on the stain. Rubbing the stain will only push the dirt further into the carpet. If it is a colored towel you might end up staining your carpet with the dye from it.
You will notice that the paper towel picks up the stain that was just on your carpet!

Step 4
Make sure to use a clean portion of the towel as it picks up the stain to prevent the dirt from going back in.
Keep pressing down until the carpet is completely dry.You may need another paper towel.
You can repeat the steps if there is still some of the stain left.
Make sure you completely towel it dry when you are done.
